New York City Penthouse Renovation
This project is a complete renovation of a penthouse apartment in the Austin Condominium located in the historic Upper West Side on one of the most desirable blocks in Manhattan, steps from the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. The expansive south-facing terrace off the main living space enjoys spectacular sweeping skyline views all the way to Midtown and beyond. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit is flooded with direct sunlight. Special features include high ceilings, separate raised dining area, split-bedroom layout and a separate balcony off the primary bedroom offering cross-ventilation throughout the entire apartment.
The original apartment layout featured numerous built-in, which significantly reduced the available living space. Years of abandoment lead to issues such as leaky windows, rotted hardwood floors, and outdated appliances and finishes. Although the overall floor plan remained mostly unchanged, the interior was completely demolished and renovated. This included completely new kitchen and bathrooms as well as updates to all living areas. Modern upgrades were added such as a high-efficiency air conditioning system and LED lighting which help reduce energy consumption. The new design features fewer built-ins, rift-sawn white oak floors, and a neutral color palette resulting in a contemporary, spacious and brighter interior.
