This Eastern Shore home began as a modest 1927 central-hall residence and was reimagined to create a more functional, water-oriented kitchen and breakfast area. The renovation reversed the original kitchen and dining layout and introduced a large central island anchored by a prominent hood. The island features a walnut counter that wraps the working area and provides additional seating. The main sink now faces north toward the water, while bay windows to the southwest and at the kitchen offer built-in seating, bookshelves, and a secondary sink and cleanup zone.
The expanded depth of the kitchen bay window allows a concealed TV to rise from below the counter and retract completely to preserve water views. A dedicated butler’s pantry and wine bar connect to the breakfast room, where the original fireplace was preserved as a focal point. Wood paneling unifies the breakfast room, kitchen, and adjoining informal entry, creating a cohesive sequence of warm, inviting spaces.
