Lakefront Home
This new lakefront home on Silver Lake in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was designed to bring a large extended family together in a relaxed beach-town setting. An L-shaped plan orients the house toward the water while creating a welcoming entry courtyard and preserving privacy from neighboring properties. Most rooms enjoy uninterrupted lake views, including the rear sitting room and formal dining room.
The home accommodates a generous program: expansive indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces, five second-floor bedrooms each with an en suite bath, and a third level with an additional bedroom, office, and ample storage. A Dutch gambrel roof, v-groove siding at the first floor, and a shingle-style exterior reference the town’s traditional architecture while visually softening the home’s scale. The primary suite opens to a second-floor terrace over the lake, with an all-season glazed room below extending the main living areas toward the view. More intimate spaces, including a north-side sitting room and terrace above, offer quieter retreats.
Designed for aging in place, the first floor is set close to grade and an elevator serves all levels. The rear yard functions as a private outdoor room with a landscaped lawn and stone patio for dining, cooking, and relaxing. A modest two-car garage at the back corner acts as a buffer to the adjacent lot and, with its double-gable form and matching materials, reads as a guest cottage from the lawn. The home has quickly become a cherished setting for multigenerational gatherings and lasting family memories.
