This hillside home at the end of Red Barn Lane was inspired by England’s 18th and 19thcentury “long houses,” whose narrow linear forms often included a cross-passage to adjoining farm structures. Interpreting that tradition, a recessed connector with bracketed columns—matching those of the front porch—links the house to the garage.
The two-story stucco residence enjoys more privacy than other Highgate homes, with a stepped plan that provides pond views from three sides. Like its neighbors, it features steep gables, sharply sloped roofs, casement windows with expressed wood lintels, and a modest entry framed by low stone walls. At the rear, a three-sided screened porch opens onto private terraces that overlook the pond and the woodland edge of the community.
