"We wanted to make several changes in our recently purchased, high-end condo in downtown Bethesda. We asked around and interviewed several architects, and ultimately hired Wiedeman Architects LLC. Our project grew in size and scope, as most projects do, and took several months to complete. Greg worked to re-create a relatively dark and asymmetrical space into an amazing contemporary space with clean lines, lots of light and glass and enough wood to make it warm and inviting. The master piece is the floating glass staircase! Greg was more than open to the idea and took to it with a passion; the result is amazing. Greg has great vision and patience, he was a pleasure to work with. Lindsay Field, Greg's assistant architect was absolutely great to work with as well; she has an enormous eye for detail and she worked with us as we decided on furniture sizes and placement, fixtures etc. We did not use a designer, and, because of the support of Greg and Lindsey, never really needed one. Finally, the administrative part was so easy: Greg would approve the builder's invoices and approve the charges, and send it on to us for payment, and the Wiedemann invoices were detailed and organized. In summary, our project was challenging and complex on many levels, and could have been a headache for us, but, in great part because of the Wiedemann Architects Team, it was a great experience with amazing results that we are very happy with!"

"Greg and Felix really transformed our home with a spectacular addition -- family room with bar, screened in porch, mud room, powder room, outdoor hardscaping. We especially appreciated their attention to small details and to a tasteful integration/replication of the existing architectural elements of our 1913 home. They listened carefully to our project goals and vision. They accommodated our busy schedules by meeting at early hours at our house. We love the result and are happy we chose real professionals for an admittedly challenging project."

“Before embarking on a large residential new build project, my wife and I determined that the hiring of the architect was one of the most important decisions we would make. The architect would not only be key in the design of our new house, but would assist us in selecting a builder and represent our interests during the construction phase. Commensurate with the importance of the decision, we interviewed six architects, checked provided references, and spoke to builders who had worked with the architects. After that vetting process, we selected Greg Wiedemann for the project. We thought highly of Greg's aesthetic, appreciated the depth of his technical knowledge, welcomed his thoughtful approach to questions presented, and anticipated that he would represent our interests well during the construction phase.  Looking back on the project, we often tell people that the best decision we made over the course of the several-year project was the hiring of Greg Wiedemann. He designed a beautiful house for us on a challenging lot, paying attention to the very smallest detail, while absorbing our own aesthetic to the point where down the road we felt very comfortable with his recommended choices for tiling, light fixtures, etc., and was all that we could have hoped for in terms of being an owner's advocate during the construction phase, including by ensuring that the design as called for was realized in all its specifics.  We are thrilled with the final results of our project, and are grateful for all that Greg did to make it a reality.”

“I was extremely pleased with the outcome of Wiedemann Architects’ work.  The whole process took two years between initial planning and completion and during this time the firm’s principal and [project architect] were always available to both myself and out builders to answer questions.  The firm found the builders who turned out to be just wonderful. Everyone they brought on the job were first-rate.  Procedures and cost were communicated clearly. This was important as we have never taken on a task like this.  It was a good partnership.”

“The home shows your masterwork at every turn. It is uniquely light and airy yet solid at the same time. There is a peaceful quiet here that is always accompanied by the sense that this is built like a fortress. The house with all these windows is ever changing - shading itself and it’s the most natural rhythm to a physical space I have ever experienced.  I mean it. This house feels like a living structure - like it has its own energy.”

“Wiedemann Architects designed an addition to my 1911 vintage house…..I couldn't be happier with what they accomplished. Their architectural design was in keeping with the style of the original building, inside and outside. …The addition is in scale with the house from front and back street views, and it blends seamlessly with the existing structure…. [They] were involved, available, professional, and easy to work with at every stage of the project. I had complete confidence in them. They provided the architectural expertise needed for a successful project, and they made sure that their design was realized, down to the details. I recommend Wiedemann Architects highly and without reservation.”

“I hired Wiedemann Architects to design a small house that has abundant natural light. …Where design elements might have exceeded the agreed-upon budget, Greg Wiedemann came up with innovative solutions that didn't compromise the overall design. Greg was very respectful of my point of view, is a good listener, and regularly sought my feedback. Besides being a gifted designer, Greg is very detail oriented and thoroughly understands the mechanical and engineering underpinnings of all of his projects. I highly recommend him and his talented staff.”

“Your dedication to the project, expertise on a number of issues, and most importantly ability to design beautiful elements and take your vision through to the finished result has resulted in a wondrous final project. We knew all along that we would be safe in your hands.”
“There is something uniquely majestic and tranquil about our home.  The flow through the space is balanced and refreshing. The center room, with its columns, natural windows and sumptuous open kitchen is breathtaking. The discreet pocket doors allow numerous permutations of functionality and privacy, even allowing for more formality when needed. The children's rooms have fantastic layout and energy. In short, the new loft you designed is the most graceful and comfortable apartment I've seen in New York.  We are fortunate to call it home.”

“ Greg Wiedemann and his group did a fantastic job designing my traditional cherry library and supervising every detail of its construction. They listened carefully to all my ideas and implemented everything that was feasible, patiently explaining the things that were not. Waterproofing, insulation, heating and cooling were all exquisitely designed and implemented so that the room is the most comfortable in the house year-round, even when the power goes out. They are a bit pricey and hit the cap on their fees well before the end of the project, but to the finish and beyond they remained as committed and involved as at our very first meeting. They were a joy to work with and I recommend them without hesitation.”

“Our experience with Wiedemann Architects was wonderful from beginning to end. From our first meeting, we knew that Greg Wiedemann understood our needs and our aesthetic, and his work for us exceeded our expectations. Greg's design allowed us to expand and update our 1930s colonial without sacrificing any of its character. He was able to open up the home to the outdoors (despite the challenging placement of the house on an irregularly shaped lot) and improve the flow of the rooms for our family. Greg was involved at every stage of the design and construction process, and his eye for detail ensured the highest level of quality. [Wiedemann Architects] also helped us select many finishes, light fixtures, and exterior features that perfectly suited our home and our style. On a personal level, [they] were a pleasure to work with--attentive, considerate, and thoughtful throughout the project. We are thrilled with our home and give Wiedemann Architects the highest possible recommendation.”

“The big room is beautiful. It is grand and homey at once. Fine but strong and practical. There is not another physical space I would rather be to live with my family during these times. This room welcomes us, feeds us, entertains us, gives us all privacy while keeps us together.”

We hired Wiedemann Architects to oversee the total renovation of a mid-century modern house in Mohican Hills, Maryland. Our 1950s house is situated on a hilly, wooded lot overlooking an old pool. The design objective was a modern house that was mostly glass in the back to take advantage of the lot, yet one that retained its original façade on the front. While the project had plenty of challenges, Greg and his team (Mitch Prince and Lindsay Field) did an exceptional job. The final project is a light filled modern space with an open staircase leading to a lower level with a poured concrete floor. Greg had really good insights and suggestions about the space, and he was flexible and willing to listen to our input. Greg also led the selection of our contractor, McNamara Brothers. Greg and the McNamaras worked very well together, and the project was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule. We are extremely pleased with the results. We would be happy to recommend Greg and Wiedemann Architects for any project, regardless of size and complexity.

Wiedemann Architects has done numerous projects for us over the course of 18 years including our home in VA and our vacation home in WV. We could not have been more pleased with every aspect of the projects. Wiedemann Architects listened to our needs and desires and turned them into more than we could have dreamed of. The quality of their work coupled with their professionalism continues to draw us back to them when the need arises. 5 stars is just not enough!

“Wiedemann Architects was thorough in their detail, creative in their design and completely responsive throughout the construction process. [We] found Wiedemann Architects’ plans easy to bid and execute for the homeowner. Wiedemann Architects LLC is a pleasure to work with!”

“We have worked with Wiedemann Architects LLC for over twenty years.  Our experience has been 100% positive.  We have worked on major projects which have been published in major publications, received local and national recognition, [including] American Institute of Architects’ awards”. Robert McNamara, McNamara Builders, Inc.

“I have been advised by [the Contractor] that our future home is unlike any other and the care, dedication, and artistry you have exhibited is not something they have ever had the privilege to work with before.”
